The new game will continue the story of Amaterasu.
At The Game Awards, Capcom announced a sequel to the beloved action-adventure Okami, with the original director, Hideki Kamiya, helming the project.
The game will be developed by CLOVERS, a new studio of the acclaimed director, in collaboration with M-TWO and Machine Head Works. The game's title has not yet been revealed, and it is referred to as "the Okami sequel project." The new installment will continue following the story of Amaterasu and company, with more action and character development, set in the unique game's world.
The release date is unknown yet and seemingly, we shouldn't expect the launch shortly, as the developer's announcement states: "It will be some time before we greet you again, but we really hope you look forward to this project."

Okami, originally released back in 2006, is set in the unique Japanese-style world. The players take on the role of Amaterasu, the Japanese sun goddess in disguise of a legendary white wolf, and are tasked to defeat a monster who destroyed the world of Nippon.
To celebrate unveiling the sequel, Capcom set the Okami + Kunitsu-Gami Bundle containing Okami HD and Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess to go on sale.
