One-Day Giveaway of Indie Roguelite Led to 2M Downloads

Developers of Guntouchables say the numbers exceed all their expectations.

Guntouchables launched on PC on August 7, with a free Steam giveaway starting immediately – a common strategy among indie developers and publishers of co-op titles these days.

Now the developers report that over 2 million copies were claimed during the 24-hour giveaway window – a figure that far exceeded their expectations.

"Launching free for 24 hours was a huge bet for us, and we are thrilled to announce that more than 2 million players claimed the game," wrote the team. "This is absolutely insane, and has blown all our expectations for getting the game off the ground."

The giveaway lasted just one day; the game is now $4.99. Players who grabbed it for free can still support the developers by purchasing a Supporter Pack, priced the same.

The roguelite will continue to receive content updates, with the first major update scheduled for September and at least one more planned before the end of the year.
