According to recent reports, OpenAI, famous for its ChatGPT products, is in discussions to secure a new round of funding at a valuation of $100 billion or more. People familiar with the matter have revealed that the terms, valuation, and timing of the funding round have not been fully determined and are subject to potential changes. Well, one thing known for sure is that if the deal succeeds, it'll make OpenAI one of the most valuable startups in the world.
Bloomberg also mentioned that OpenAI has engaged in talks to secure funding for a new chip venture with G42, based in Abu Dhabi. Although it is uncertain if the chip venture and the potential $100 billion funding are connected, reports indicate that OpenAI considered raising $8 billion to $10 billion from G42. The report also stated that OpenAI is on track to finalize a separate tender offer organized by Thrive Capital in early January. This offer would enable employees to sell shares at a valuation of $86 billion.
Speaking of OpenAI, in December, we reported that the company launched Converge 2, a program aimed to help startups, which are leveraging AI. The program will include tech talks, social events, and conversations with industry leaders, as well as a $1 million investment.
