But it's never that simple, is it?
Blizzard
Overwatch 2 is pretty generous with its "thanks for your report" messages, but if you want to know what's happening on the other side, here's your chance.
One player has recently been banned from the game because he used the words "noob", "worth", and, bafflingly, "?". Yes, a question mark.
He shared the message he received from one of the game masters after the appeal on Reddit, but it was deleted, so let's thank Dexerto for the screenshot below:
While the "noob" one is pretty straightforward, the other two instances are a bit more confusing. Most likely, the player solo-ulted someone or died and said it was "worth" the trade-off or whatever he thought he achieved with it, and others disagreed. The "?" could be anything, really, perhaps a jab at someone doing something inadvisable (like dying thinking it was "worth" it).
"A player gets banned for calling someone a noob" is a good title, but there are always extra details in such cases, like the fact that this person was a repeat offender, and that's why he was permanently suspended, not because of one stray word, so you don't have to worry too much unless you're that guy who collects reports like badges of honor.
Still, the choice of words the GM provided as proof of inappropriate behavior is questionable. Then again, Blizzard has become more serious about reports since OW2. It has been banning people for saying "f*ck", "Genji switch", "uninstall", and "both". But I said it then and I'll say it again: if you get banned for seemingly innocent communication, you likely weren't nice in that game.
