Painting Halftone Shadows with Blender's Grease Pencil

Digital Artist Dédouze has demonstrated one more technique you can use in Blender.

Digital Artist Dédouze, known for creating stunning retro-futuristic animations using Blender, has demonstrated a cool technique possible with Blender's Grease Pencil tool. This time, the artist showed how to set up halftone shadows, parts of an illuminated side of an object neither in the highlight nor in the shadow, using this tool. This technique was used by Dédouze to create one more stunning project that is likely to be released in the near future. You can check out the demonstration video attached above.

If you are using Grease Pencil, you might also be interested in a cool Blender add-on, released by Dédouze himself. The add-on is called Grease Pencil Focus and with it, you will be able to save the last color and tool you used on a certain layer and reactivate them in an instant by opening this layer later. You can learn more and download the add-on here.

If you want to learn more about the artist's workflow, we also recommend checking out our interview with Dédouze, where he explained how he deals with hand-drawn animations in Blender using Grease Pencil and other tools.
