The game is ready; it is the "server-side infrastructure work" that needs a bit more time.
Hearts are broken for Path of Exile 2 fans, as the game’s director, Jonathan Rogers, just announced a three-week delay to the original early access release of their upcoming action RPG. The main consideration for this decision is to ensure that all "microtransactions will work across Path of Exile 1 and 2."
"One of the key promises we made is that all your microstransactions will work across Path of Exile 1 and 2. In order to do that, we have to integrate the account systems for not only Path of Exile 1 and 2, but also for the console realms as well. This meant changing a lot of things: not only do we have to create a bunch of new systems, we have to make sure that all the old data is backwards compatible with them as well," says Rogers.
He assured the community that the sequel itself is ready to go; it is the "server-side infrastructure work" that needs a bit more time. "We have to get everything perfect so that nobody loses anything they paid for, and nobody has their account broken," Rogers said with a sincere apology.
Despite an extended waiting period for the eagerly-waiting players, they show great support and understanding and encourage developers to take their time for a smooth launch.

A few gameplay videos were released last year to show the combats, classes, and action-focused gameplay of Path of Exile 2. The characters' ability to run and shoot simultaneously has greatly intrigued players’ interests.
