The second developer diary on YouTube gives us a bit more information about what to expect from the game. It's been confirmed that Payday 3 will take place in New York City this time around, and the “biggest change” compared to Payday 2 is apparently “how the heist experience has evolved”.
In the video, Starbreeze admitted that the team has greatly let down the console players with support for new content for Payday 2, prioritizing the PC. They ensured that this shouldn't happen with a new game.
Also, the team has shared that Payday 3 will support cross-play with all platforms. Payday 3 will arrive on Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S, PlayStation 5 and PC with the same version of the game, allowing players to have an identical experience. It will also feature cross-progression across all versions of the game, using its own unique account system, Starbreeze Nebula.
Currently, Starbreeze Nebula can be linked to a player’s Steam account, making Nebula available in connection with PC games. With the launch of Payday 3, Starbreeze Nebula will be available for multiple platforms, including PlayStation and Xbox.
