Phil Spencer Has Spent Nearly 200 Hours Playing Vampire Survivors

The Xbox boss spent almost 193 hours in two weeks on the hit vampire roguelike.

It turns out that Xbox Phil Spencer is a huge fan of a hit roguelike shoot 'em up game, Vampire Survivors. The game was released back in 2021, however, only in October 2022, it made its way to Game Pass on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.

It's worth noting that the game had been available on PC via Game Pass for several months prior to this but, apparently, Spencer first tried to play Vampire Survivors the next day after its release on the console version of the Xbox subscription service.

The game was added to Game Pass on Xbox consoles on November 10 and a couple of days after it, Spencer took to Twitter to share that he was delighted with the project.

"What a great game. Obvious lineage from Robotron with a lot of RPG and modern mechanics built in," the Xbox boss wrote. "And I want to callout the excellent achievements work in the game, love that for the first few hours each run seems to pop a new chevo or two. Plays great from xCloud."

It's worth saying that few games, especially not from Xbox first-party studios, receive so much attention from the head of Xbox.

It seems that Spencer is so engaged in the game that he spends almost all of his free time playing it – he already has spent almost 200 hours in Vampire Survivors. According to Spencer's Xbox Live profile on TrueAchievements, the head of Xbox started playing Vampire Survivors on November 11, and at the moment, he spent nearly 193 hours in the game.

During this time, Spencer completed 96 achievements out of 142. This indicates that Spencer is really playing Vampire Survivors, and the 193 hours reflected on the tracking website are not a bug.

Vampire Survivors is one of the biggest indie hits of 2022. The game was created by solo game developer Luca Galante, also known as Poncle. It is currently available on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Android, Linux, Xbox Cloud Gaming, and PC.

I've only got 65 hours and every achievement. What's he doing?
