Photorealistic 3D Recreation of Kim Jung Gi

Ian Spriggs showcased a stunning portrait of the late Illustrator Kim Jung Gi.

3D Character Artist Ian Spriggs, known to many for his ultra-realistic character models, has unveiled a stunning 3D recreation of the late Korean Illustrator and the creator of world-renowned large-scale works Kim Jung Gi, who sadly passed away on October 3, 2022, at the age of 47.

Created as a tribute to the legendary artist, the model is based on a series of photos of Kim taken by Ian only a few days before the former's heartbreaking passing. Inspired by the inspirational message conveyed by Kim with the shots, Ian felt compelled to complete the project, hoping that "the final result accurately reflects who [Kim Jung Gi] was" and "is something that he could have been proud of."

"I asked Kim Jung Gi while we were at Trojan Horse Was a Unicorn if I could take create his portrait, and he enthusiastically agreed. It saddened me to hear the news of his passing only a few short days later. I hope that Kim would have been proud of this finished portrait," comments Ian. "Kim decided his pose of pointing towards us, perhaps it was one of his final messages, I like to believe that it was a message for us to look within and believe in ourselves, that it is our turn to step into."

Ian has also shared a lengthy message dedicated to his relationship with Kim Jung Gi, explaining how they first met and how the portrait in question came up to be:
