Photorealistic Polish Donut Made With Photogrammetry & Blender

Check out this mouth-watering pączek model made by Paweł Wałasiewicz.

If you believe you've witnessed every type of Blender-made donut imaginable over the years, prepare to be proven wrong by the remarkable piece created by 3D Designer Paweł Wałasiewicz, also known as numbian.

Leveraging Blender, the artist has set up a photorealistic 3D model of a traditional Polish donut known as pączek, based on a real-life pastry the author scanned with Meshroom, a free and open-source 3D reconstruction software. According to Paweł, the pipeline consisted of photogrammetry, re-meshing, baking, hand-texture painting, and "a lot of shader/compositor shenanigans".

Furthermore, this realistic model is available for download via BlenderKit, featuring 8K Normal, Diffuse, and Roughness Maps and boasting a face count of 22,388. You can learn more about this mouth-watering pączek and check out more of numbian's Blender-made projects by visiting the artist's Reddit page.
