Pixar has Released RenderMan 24.1

RenderMan 24.1 brings some new functionality to artists, as well as several bug fixes.

Following the release of Pixar's RenderMan for Blender, a new update for RenderMan has been shipped. Due to the short time between two updates, RenderMan 24.1 doesn't add any major features to the program, except for the free RenderMan for Substance Painter plugin that has been updated and can now export Substance materials for use in other DCC apps in a format compatible with RenderMan’s Lama layered material system.

The update also moves XPU a bit further towards features parity with the existing RIS render architecture. The users can now write AAlbedo AOVs, and support for PxrOcclusion for Ambient Occlusion.

Moreover, the new Blender plugin RenderMan for Blender now supports Blender 2.93, the current version of the software. Both the Blender and Houdini plugins also now support Python 3.
