Planetside Software revealed Terragen Sky – an easy-to-use sky and clouds generator now available in early access. It allows creating realistic skies, clouds, and atmosphere as well as interactive 360° HDR environments.
Terragen Sky makes generating clouds simpler than in Planetside's landscape generation tool Terragen itself. You can quickly reposition the sun by clicking in the viewport and adjust the clouds with a slider. You can create a beautiful time-lapse by exporting the Terragen Sky scene to Terragen 4.
As mentioned above, Terragen Sky can make customizable, editable, and artifact-free 360° HDR environments that can be rendered "in almost real time" and then used in other DCC software and engines.
In the future, it will also be possible to make stylized skies in the tool, "including planetary orbital shots and skies for fantasy and alien worlds."
Terragen Sky is free for users with Terragen subscriptions. Terragen Creative is available for $15/month, $38.70/quarter, and $138/year, while Terragen Professional is $38/month, $102/quarter, and $324/year.
