Recently, industry insider Lance McDonald revealed that Dreams for PC and PS5 was in the works, citing his own source. According to McDonald, the development of the ports was almost finished, but unfortunately, they were ultimately canceled due to layoffs at Media Molecule, the studio behind Dreams.
Later, Eurogamer confirmed the existence of a Dreams version for PC, confirming McDonald's earlier report. However, Sony's gaming division decided to cancel the port by the end of 2023.
McDonald also mentioned that the enhanced versions of Dreams were set to include ray-tracing for PS5, while the PC version was intended to offer support for keyboard and mouse controls. However, it seems that we won't see the ports in the works.
As we earlier reported, Media Molecule went through a round of layoffs in October 2023, downsizing its workforce by approximately 20%. Furthermore, the developers had ceased supporting Dreams a couple of months before and had shifted their focus to the next project.
As for the next project, there's no information so far. Hopefully, we'll hear more from the studio soon.
