PlatinumGames Is Already Discussing the Next Bayonetta Project

Although no plans have been approved by Nintendo yet.

PlatinumGames' vice president and the creator of the Bayonetta series Hideki Kamiya shared that the team is already discussing the future of the action-adventure franchise.

In an interview with Famitsu (via VGC), Kamiya noted that he hasn't even thought about ending the franchise yet and has already started discussions about the next Bayonetta project with the director of the recently-released Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon Abebe Tinari. However, he said that they "haven’t spoken with Nintendo about it yet."

Makoto Okazaki, the producer of the Bayonetta franchise on Nintendo’s side, added that he currently has no news to share regarding the future of the franchise. However, he shares the same belief as the developers at PlatinumGames that the series should continue.

"I personally do not believe this is the end of Bayonetta," Okazaki said. "I would first like to hear the thoughts and opinions of the players who have played [Bayonetta Origins], and then consider the future of the series."

PlatinumGames seems to have an interest in developing more than just mainline games, as evidenced by its work on Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon, a prequel to the Bayonetta franchise that offers a gameplay experience that differs from the main series.

Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon launched in early March 2023. Earlier, in October 2022, the team released Bayonetta 3. As of now, the series is exclusively available on Nintendo Switch, and there doesn't seem to be any indication of this changing anytime soon.
