Players Claim Price for Red Dead Redemption's PC Port Is Too High

"$50 for a computer game that is 14 years old."

Rockstar, Double Eleven

Red Dead Redemption, originally released in May 2010, will launch on PC this October, as announced by Rockstar. The price for the new PC port provoked strong disapproval among players.

The PC version of the game will cost $49.99 on Steam and Epic Games Store. Players on the Internet complain that this price is too high for a game that was released 14 years ago. "I'm not paying $50 for a 14-year-old port. This isn't a remaster," writes one player on Steam. "$49.99 for a game from more than 14 years ago," "$50 for a computer game that is 14 years old," read numerous comments.

Players claim that the new release is not a remaster and doesn't bring anything new. Many gamers say they will wait for a sale to purchase the game. However, some players argue that the new port is almost a remaster, as it now has a 4K resolution, supports 144fps, and runs on new hardware.

Before, Take-Two Interactive called such price for the same game's ports "commercially accurate." Last year, the developer announced PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch ports for Red Dead Redemption, which also cost $50. The audience similarly criticized the developer for delivering a "$50 port of a 13-year-old game." At the time, CEO of Take-Two Interactive Strauss Zelnick said: "That's just what we believe is the commercially accurate price for it."
