Players Spent Record-Breaking $10.5B In April

The whole coronavirus situation made people spend more money on games. 

Digital video game spending hit a record in April reaching the mark of $10.5 billion which is higher than the March number ($10 billion) and up 17 percent from the same period last year, the latest report from Nielsen's SuperData states

Animal Crossing: New Horizons was the leader in April selling the most digital units (3.6 million). The game is also now the top Switch title in lifetime digital sales and lifetime digital revenue. 

Also, Final Fantasy 7 Remake sold $2.2 million digital units last month beating the result of Marvel's Spider-Man which previously held a digital sales record for a PS4 exclusive title.

Resident Evil 3, the latest remake from Capcom, sold 1.3 million digital units in April. As for the recently released remastered version of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign, the game sold 3.4 million units in April.
