Playing with VR Trains in Mixed Reality Using Oculus Quest 2

Developers from Foggy Box Games are experimenting with Quest's Passthrough.

Take a look at this fun mixed reality project where you build VR railroad tracks and stations for a train to travel between and transport passengers. The project is just an experiment so far created by Foggy Box Games, which has made Brunch Club and Startenders, using Oculus Quest 2's Passthrough – a feature that "allows you to step outside your view in VR to see a real-time view of your surroundings."

The developers say they get the room data from the built-in Room Setup, an experimental setting in the headset. Some users complained that objects in their Quest 2 can change position when looking away, to that the developer Youles replied:

"We’re using the new presence platform stuff that came with v40. This is using a spatial anchor to keep the main station locked in place, we then base everything off of that position, been a more solid experience so far. If you lose your guardian then it won’t know what to do. But we’re thinking of ways to try and replace the setup if it does lose its position."

Some users are already suggesting different cool ideas Foggy Box Games could implement, but so far, it's just something the developers are "playing around with."
