PlayStation Games on PC Might Need a PSN Account in the Future

Consoles and PC titles could be connected one day.

PlayStation games on PC may need a PlayStation Network account in the future, according to the FAQ on the company's website.

As noted by VGC, the section mostly has straightforward answers, however, the PSN question's reply states that you "currently" don't need a PSN account to play PlayStation games on PC, which suggests it could change in the future.

Another answer says that "it is currently not possible to purchase the PC version of a title and then play it on a PS4 or PS5 console, or vice versa" and "it is currently not possible to transfer your save data from the PS4 or PS5 version to the PC version."

If Sony started asking for a PSN account to play its games on PC, it wouldn't be that surprising as Microsoft requires users to have an Xbox Live account for some games on Steam.

This decision could mean PlayStation support of cross-play in the future so users can play God of War, Horizon Zero Dawn, Days Gone, Predator Hunting Grounds, HELLDIVERS, and Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered that's coming out on August 12.
