Journalist Jeff Grubb claims that Sony's event will take place before Summer Game Fest which is scheduled for June 8.
Sony is reportedly set to hold a PlayStation Showcase before the recently announced Summer Game Fest that is slated for June.
That's according to a credible journalist Jeff Grubb who had previously hinted at similar information and now outed the event in his list of gaming shows that are set to take place in the coming months. Still, Grubb did not specify an exact date for the PlayStation Showcase, although he indicated that it will be held before June 8.
While the event could potentially occur in early June, there is a chance it might take place in May. Additionally, June will feature a series of other events, including the Xbox Games Showcase and Starfield Direct events on June 11, as well as the Ubisoft Forward show on June 12.
This information follows the unfortunate cancellation of E3 2023. According to the organizers, the show "did not garner the sustained interest necessary to execute it in a way that would showcase the size, strength, and impact of our industry."
It's worth noting that Grubb shared this information on April 1, which happens to be a day known for practical jokes, and there is a possibility that he may have not been serious. Nonetheless, his forecast does not seem improbable, given that last year's Sony showcase was also held in early June, preceding Summer Game Fest 2022.
