PlayStation VR2 Sold Nearly 600,000 Units within Six Weeks of Its Launch

Sony's latest headset sales were 8% higher than those of the original PSVR during the same release period.

In its recent Business Segment Meeting, Sony revealed that the sales of Play Station VR2 reached nearly 600,000 units within six weeks after its launch on February 22, 2023.

This data indicates that the sales of Sony's latest VR headset have increased by eight percent compared to the launch of the original PSVR during the same release period.

In recent months, there have been differing reports about the sales performance of PSVR2, leaving uncertainty about its success. Some sources mentioned a "slow start," while others presented a more positive outlook.

However, Sony's figures suggest that previous analyst estimates, which projected sales of around 270,000 units for PS VR2 by the end of March, were somewhat underestimated compared to the actual figures. According to the provided graph, Sony had already sold more than double that number by that time.

In March, Sony expressed optimism regarding the sales of its new headset, stating that it has a "good chance" of surpassing the sales of the original PSVR, which had reached five million units sold by the end of 2019.
