Procedural Hand-Painted Skin Shader Created With Blender

Abir "Xeofrios" Dutta showcased a new outstanding shared and shared a detailed breakdown explaining how it was made.

3D Procedural Artist and Blender enthusiast Abir Dutta, known online as Xeofrios, has recently impressed thousands of people by showcasing an absolutely incredible procedural non-photorealistic skin shader created with Blender. Achieved using the software's Shader Nodes, the shader enables one to give a 3D character model a stunning painterly-style look. According to the author, the final female model, attached above, was created using only the shader in question, 100% without painting.

What's more, Abir has also gone a step further and shared an insightful breakdown revealing how this procedural shader was set up.

In the breakdown, the artist showcased the node-based workflow in Blender, showed how SubSurface Scattering was faked, demonstrated how Voronoi Texture was used to make the painterly effect, explained how to mix different textures without their colors mixing, shared multiple screenshots, and more. You can check out the full breakdown by clicking this link.

Previously, the creator also showcased a cool Geometry Nodes-powered setup for creating and customizing donuts in Blender and demonstrated an impressive custom-made hair creation system set up entirely in Blender without using any third-party add-ons. You can check out all these projects and more by visiting Xeofrios's Twitter page.

Back in February, Abir also joined 80 Level to discuss the previously mentioned hair creation system in more detail, walking us through the entire working process and explaining how the Geometry Nodes toolset was leveraged to set it up.
