PUBG Owner's New Fantasy Game is Now in Full Production

The company wants to build a global franchise with the new project.

PUBG owner Krafton announced its next game, based on the popular Korean fantasy novels titled The Bird The Drinks Tears, has now entered full production. The project has also got a new website that features several concepts.
The project is based on The Bird That Drinks Tears which is a four-part fantasy series written by Yeongdo Lee. Krafton believes their new project can build a 'global franchise' around the license so they even hired concept artist Iain McCaig, who's previously contributed to the development of Harry Potter, The Avengers, Terminator, and Star Wars.
"The Bird that Drinks Tears is unlike any other fantasy story I have read, with fresh new ways of exploring human nature," said McCaig. "That’s what attracts me most. It’s an epic on a par with The Lord of the Rings or Dune. The fantasy world is fresh and visceral, mingling traditional archetypes with dream and nightmare images that are wholly original. I was working on my own projects at the time; engaging with this meant putting them all aside. It needed to be something incredibly special for me to do that. As it turns out, it was."
The team is now "aggressively recruiting the world’s top development talent" to work on the game. For those of you unfamiliar with the company's structure, it owns PUBG Studios, Bluehole Studio, Striking Distance Studios, Unknown Worlds, and several other studios. Little is known about the team working on the project though.
