PureRef, a must-have tool for any kind of artist for organizing references, has just received a highly awaited update introducing several major improvements.

The most obvious one is the updated user interface, aiming to make the software's appearance more comfortable and coherent to facilitate working with new and upcoming PureRef features. This can be reverted in the main UI in settings if you're not ready for these changes.

PureRef 2.0 introduces GIF support, one of the long-awaited features, including playback controls to step through individual frames. Play, pause, adjust speed, scrub back and forth, frame step, and see the frame numbers in a clip, drag the frame out of the timeline onto the board, or play multiple GIFs simultaneously.

Another popular feature request, simple free-hand drawing, is also finally here. PureRef offers 3 different stroke widths, eraser and color selector, and other basic drawing options for you to make notes in your images at any time.

With PureRed 2.0, you can also group and ungroup images and notes together and move them around as a unit. Moreover, the background color and opacity of the group to improve visual distinction can also be adjusted. Add stuff to the group from the board by simply dragging them into it.

Naturally, with this feature you get hierarchy, allowing you to overview everything in your scene in a separate window. Control the relationships of images and notes, draw and drop items, and rename them.

Notes have also been extended with a rich text editor, adding checklists, bullet lists, numbered lists, text alignment, clickable links, fonts, styles, and more.

And with the new Always on top of feature, you can make PureRef show on top of an app of your choice by simply enabling it and clicking a window of the application to attach PureRef to.

PureRef 2.0 comes with a large list of other great new features, such as 3DConnexion SpaceMouse support, streamlining navigation inside the app. Read the full list here and don't forget to join our 80 Level Talent platform and our Telegram channel and follow us on InstagramTwitter, and LinkedIn, where we share breakdowns, the latest news, awesome artworks, and more.
