If you've been on YouTube between 2019 and 2022, the name RAID: Shadow Legends is likely to ring a bell. Developed by Plarium Games, this infamous mobile gacha RPG has made its mark in history through its uniquely annoying promotional campaign, which involved collaborating with what seems to be every single content creator in existence.
Throughout the years, "the most ambitious RPG of 2019" has been turned into a meme, with non-players finding the ads, brimming with the same enthusiastic adjectives, hilarious to say the least. At the same time, a considerable portion of those who actually gave RAID a try criticized the title for, and you won't believe it, failing to align with the impressions conveyed in the ads, as well as its aggressive approach to microtransactions.

A few days ago, the gaming community was once again reminded of RAID's presence with its release on Steam. Offering "800+ playable Champions" and "8 game modes", the Steam version maintains the same gameplay and storyline, challenging players to defeat the Dark Lord and restore peace to the realm.
However, a notable distinction from the mobile counterparts lies in the game's reception on Steam. As of the time of this writing, RAID enjoys highly favorable reviews on both the App Store and Google Play, boasting scores of 4.7 and 4.5, respectively, based on hundreds of thousands of reviews. The PC gaming community, on the other hand, greeted the launch with less enthusiasm, with the game's Steam rating currently sitting in the "Mixed" category with only 42% positive reviews, some of which are jokes or expressed with a sarcastic tone.
