Razer Announced the First Modular Gaming Desk Concept

Project Sophia offers swappable modules and countless configuration options.

Razer has presented Project Sophia – "the gaming battlestation of the future." Integrated into a desk, it promises to be highly customizable, with a high-performance integrated PCB.

The highly modifiable desk will be capable of supporting up to 13 separate modules for maximum personalization. A huge assortment of accessories and devices will help users configure the setup to suit their needs on the fly.

The modules of the project include:

  • THX spatial surround sound controls,
  • system monitoring,
  • programmable hotkey module,
  • Thunderbolt™ powered EGPU,
  • raid controller,
  • network performance module,
  • 15W wireless charger,
  • Thunderbolt™ 4 hub,
  • media controls.

Razer also promises a customized PCB fitted with the newest core components, including the latest Intel processor and NVIDIA GPU. All the components are housed in a slim chassis that magnetically snaps in underneath the glass tabletop, which can be detached to install new upgrades.

Project Sophia is created to accommodate different kinds of users:

  • The Gamer
  • The Creator
  • The Streamer
  • The WFH

The Gamer build includes a raid controller, a system monitoring module, programmable hotkeys, and THX spatial surround sound controls.

The desk for creators includes a custom creative input module, a touchscreen digitizer with a stylus and a control wheel, media controls, and Thunderbolt™ powered EGPU.

For streamers, Project Sophia offers Kiyo Pro – a webcam by Razer, a streamer production controller, a chat viewer, a microphone – Seiren v2 Pro with a boom arm, and a network performance module.

Remote workers will have a digital planner, a productivity launcher, a 15W wireless charger, a team communication module, privacy control, and a beverage warmer.

The desk is said to be lined with LEDs that can be synced with the Razer Chroma™ RGB ecosystem. Also, Project Sophia promises to have an ultra-thin screen with self-lit pixels and support a 65” or 77” display while offering full control and maximum immersion.
