Realistic CD Shader Created in Blender
3DDan has improved the previous version.
An artist known as 3DDan released a new, improved version of his realistic CD shader made in Blender, which you might have seen on 80 Level before.
This time, he listened to the audience's passionate cries for a rainbow effect and added it along with more oily fingerprints. Compare it to the old one:
"Each layer of the CD is actually modeled to take advantage of Cycle's path tracing and have extremely accurate lighting interactions."

The surface imperfections were done with the industry standard material layering technique "so that those scratches and fingerprints feel as tactile as possible." Each layer has its own material with custom node groups, so you can tweak the look as much as you want.
