Realistic Ocean Waves Simulation Made in Blender With FLIP Fluids

Kouji Tajima has showcased his latest experiment.

Digital Sculptor and Senior Concept Artist at ILM Kouji Tajima, specializing primarily in 3D creature design, has once again ventured beyond his usual artistic domain to present something entirely distinct from his signature creations, yet equally as impressive.

This time, the creator showcased a highly realistic 3D simulation of ocean waves, set up in Blender using FLIP Fluids, a renowned add-on that lets you set up, run, and render liquid simulation effects entirely within the software. At the moment, the demonstrated animation is still WIP, with the artist planning to move the project to Redshift and use Dynamic Paint to make the surfaces look more wet.

And here's the simulation without the water material:

Previously, Kouji also stepped away from his realistic-looking 3D beasts to explore NPR workflows, showcasing a manga-style full-body character model created entirely on an iPad with Nomad Sculpt and Procreate:

This project includes assets, maps, materials, Blueprints, and effects created in the Unreal Engine. Each asset was created for realistic AAA quality visuals, style, and budget.
