Realistic Volumetric Clouds Made With Terragen & Blender Cycles

The project took 50 minutes to render in 4K at the RTX 3060 GPU.

3D Artist Terje Hannisdal, who specializes primarily in creating gorgeous CG landscapes, has recently shared the results of a volumetric cloud test, showcasing some incredibly-realistic digital clouds achieved as a result.

According to the creator, the VDB for the project was created with Terragen, Planetside Software's solution for building, rendering, and animating realistic natural environments, and rendered using Blender Cycles. The clouds took 14 minutes and 50 minutes to render in 2K and 4K, respectively, on an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 12GB GPU.
