This update adds new shooting modes, Mesh Clean Up tools, Capture Interval Timer, and more.
RealityScan Mobile, the free pocket-sized version of the RealityScan photogrammetry app, has received an update for both iOS and Android. The standout addition is three different shooting modes to match your scanning needs.
These include AR Guidance, which uses augmented reality to project a live quality point cloud over your subject and display real-time photo positions, helping you identify where additional shots are needed. Object Mode introduces advanced camera controls along with automatic background removal, while Standard Mode offers the same enhanced controls but without the background removal feature.
With the new Mesh Clean Up tools, you can gain better control over your generated mesh. Use the lasso and rectangle selection tools to quickly identify and remove unwanted parts of your model.
RealityScan Mobile 1.8 also introduces focus peaking, a color overlay that highlights the areas of your image that are in sharp focus. And new Capture Interval Timer automatically captures photos at preset time intervals, making it ideal for turntable scans.
Last but not least, when processing your scan, you can now choose between generating a watertight mesh, useful for tasks like 3D printing, or a non-watertight mesh, which can help reduce artifacts, especially if the scan was captured without masks.
