RealTrees: New Library Of Realistic Scan-Based Tree Models
Horse chestnut, the first one, is already available.
Senior 3D Environment Artist Lars Groeger has spent the past five years collecting photogrammetry data from trees and is now launching his tree library called RealTrees. It's designed to streamline the process of adding realistic trees to your projects, whether you work in games or VFX.
RealTrees provides artists with highly detailed tree models ready for further processing in DCC software of their choice, like Houdini, though they are best suited for mid to background use. The first batch will have over 50 trees with a great range of variety.
On top of that, RealTrees models are optimized for 3D printing:
The horse chestnut is the first tree available in the library, measuring 14.4 meters in height. The model features 15 million polygons and a base color 16K texture.
