The rereleased game from Rockstar Games runs smoothly on the OpenGL graphics API without the need for additional patches.
After the rerelease of Red Dead Redemption on PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch on August 17, users of the Yuzu emulator tested the game on PC. According to initial tests, the title from Rockstar Games action runs smoothly on the OpenGL graphics API without the need for additional patches.
The thing is that the Yuzu emulator also allowed enthusiasts to remove the frame rate limitation in Red Dead Redemption, which runs at 30 fps on Nintendo Switch. Using the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 graphics card, testers managed to run the game at frame rates of up to 60 fps at 4K resolution. The testers noted though that the frame rate regularly drops, especially in dynamic scenes.
It was also noted that the performance in Red Dead Redemption on Yuzu using Vulkan is slightly better – this API though brings some graphical artifacts that have not been resolved yet.
Enthusiasts continued their tests and launched the Nintendo Switch version of Red Dead Redemption on the Yuzu emulator via the Steam Deck handheld console. The test showed the average frame rate was below 30 fps.
