Strauss Zelnick also added that re-release decisions are primarily made by the development teams.

When asked by journalists about the price of the re-release of Red Dead Redemption, which is coming out on August 17 for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch, Take-Two Interactive's CEO Strauss Zelnick discussed the reason behind the decision. After the announcement, many players expressed their dissatisfaction with the game's price and the company's strategy as the changes and improvements, according to the developers, are minimal, plus the game is over 13 years old. Strauss Zelnick doesn't think that the price tag for the port is inflated.
"That's just what we believe is the commercially accurate price for it," Zelnick said.
Take-Two’s EVP of Finance, Hannah Sage emphasized that the upcoming does not just include the Red Dead base game, but also Undead Nightmare. Journalists asked the CEO whether Undead Nightmare was the reason for its $50 price with Zelnick answering that the expansion "was a great standalone game in its own right when it was originally released, so we feel like it's a great bundle for the first time, and certainly a great value for consumers."
The manager also shared some thoughts on the publisher's current policy regarding re-releases and remakes of their old games. Zelnick claimed that these decisions are primarily made by the development team and rely on the "creative vision".
"It depends on the vision that the creative teams have for a title, and in the absence of having a powerful vision, for something that we would do with a title, we might bring it in its original form, we've done that, and in certain instances we might remaster or remake, so it really depends on the title and how the label feels about it, the platform, and what we think the opportunity is for consumers," said Zelnick.
