Baldur's Gate 3 respects D&D 5e rules and sticks close to all the principles of the game but the problem is that some of the rules might make beginners' lives difficult. Let's take spells, for example. If you're just starting with Baldur's Gate 3, spellcasting heroes can cast only two level 1 spells and then they need a long rest.
Eventually, you become more powerful as you reach level 5 and beyond but the first 10-15 hours might be extremely tough especially if you're considering fighting against goblin leaders or dealing with giant spiders (believe me, that might be a headache). Well, you can always take a long rest but you'd have to use 40 camp supplies which might be irrational if most of your teammates are healthy.
The good news is that there's a new mod that can help you: "Short rest refreshes spells and some more" by Nexus Mods user kaijuu12345. The mod allows its users to restore spell slots after a short rest. The mod also restores Rage slots for Barbarians and Bardic Inspiration.
In case you're thinking the mod is kind of cheating, the thing with Dungeons & Dragons is that the game has always been about your own rules. Ideally, you need to follow the playbook and its principles but coming up with your own set of rules is what makes this universe so fun.
You can learn more and get the mod here. In other Baldur's Gate 3 news, Larian Studios rolled out a new hotfix for the game, giving gnome sorcerers underwear, fixing indecent exposure problems, and addressing almost 300 crashes, blockers, and bugs. Learn more here.
