Remedy's First Co-Op FPS Unveiled, Coming in 2025

Control's multiplayer spinoff lets you shoot goo and gnomes.

Remedy Entertainment, the developer behind Alan Wake and Control, has surprised the community by unveiling its first multiplayer game at today's Xbox Partner Preview. It announced FBC: Firebreak, a three-player co-op first-person shooter set in the Federal Bureau of Control (FBC), where you and the other two teammates fight with otherworldly monsters.

The trailer shows the gameplay, combat scenes, enemies, weapons, and more. The weapons are quite diversified, as players will be able to shoot goo and gnomes at the supernatural monsters. "Before deploying, select your weapon and customize your Firebreaker’s Crisis Kit with specialized tools, grenades, support items, and paranatural augments... then modify them to suit your strategy and change the way you play," the game's description reads.

Developed and published by Remedy, FBC: Firebreak could mark a new step for the company as it moves towards self-publishing. Last month, Remdy entered into a EUR 15 million convertible loan agreement with Chinese tech giant Tencent. At that time, CEO Tero Virtala said the financing would support Remedy "in developing and fully realizing the potential of the games we have in development and successfully carrying out the commercial activities of our next self-published games. FBC: Firebreak is slated for launch in 2025 on PC via Steam and Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, and Xbox X/S. It can be wishlisted now.
