Remedy Won't Fix a Bug in Alan Wake 2 Used by Speedrunners

The bug was discovered thanks to a run at Awesome Games Done Quick 2025.

Developers from Remedy shared a cool story about discovering a bug they missed during the production process. One of the bugs discovered in Alan Wake 2 DLC, The Lake House, was discovered thanks to a speedrun showcased at Awesome Games Done Quick 2025.

The bug allows players to use elevator buttons without actually being inside the elevator. The creators of Alan Wake 2 didn't notice the thing during the game's development.

The team shared they immediately decided not to fix the bug so that speedrunners could take advantage of it. Regular players are unlikely to encounter the issue, and it probably won’t affect anyone’s experience of the DLC.

"Thanks to this run by the suave, the Lake House development team found out that you CAN actually interact with the elevator from the outside... and immediately decided that's not something that will be fixed. You're welcome," wrote Remedy on social media

Previously, Alan Wake 2 Game Director Kyle Rowley discussed joining Remedy to work on Quantum Break, revealing he wanted the studio to be the "European version of Naughty Dog." Learn more here
