It's not yet known what game genre it will be focusing on, but it likely won't be horror games.

Shinji Mikami, the creator of Resident Evil, has embarked on a new venture by establishing a studio called KAMUY, although no specific details about the company's activities have been disclosed so far.

Mikami founded Tango Gameworks in March 2010 and soon later it was acquired by Bethesda. The studio was responsible for some famous series like The Evil Within, Ghostwire: Tokyo, and Hi-Fi Rush. He left Tango in 2023

Following his departure, Mikami wrote on Twitter in October of the same year and expressed his readiness to begin working again, stating, "Now that I've broken the spell of non-competition on myself, I guess I should get to work."

Beginning his tenure at Capcom in 1990, Mikami has contributed to several of the company's most successful titles. He was the director for the first installment of the Resident Evil series in 1996, as well as the first Dino Crisis series in 1999, both of which are popular survival horror games.

However, his creative aspirations extend beyond the horror genre, as he revealed in 2020 his desire to direct one more video game project before retiring. Mikami highlighted that he has many ideas that go beyond just the horror genre.

At present, Mikami is actively involved in the development of Shadows of the Damned Hella Remastered, collaborating with Goichi Suda, also known as Suda51.
