Respawn's Next Game Is Already in the Works

But don't expect Titanfall 3 yet.

Respawn Entertainment, the developer responsible for hits like Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and Apex Legends, which recently released the continuation of Cal Kestis' story, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, is showing no signs of slowing down. In fact, the studio recently revealed that it is already hard at work on a brand-new game, which will apparently serve as the first installment in a new series.

In a recent interview with Axios, Vince Zampella, an EA executive and the head of Respawn, has shared that a "small team" at the studio is already working on a new project. Although details are currently scarce, Zampella has confirmed that this project will be "something new," but he has also made it clear that it will not be Titanfall 3, which fans have been eagerly anticipating.

Although Zampella has not revealed any specifics about the upcoming game, he has indicated that the goal is to "find the fun in something new," which implies that it could be an entirely new IP.

Additionally, the Respawn CEO shared that the lead designer of Titanfall, Steve Fukuda, is leading the development of this mysterious new game. Although this news may sound exciting to fans, it also strongly suggests that any potential continuation of the Titanfall franchise is unlikely in the near future as the team behind the franchise seems to have been assigned to other projects within the company.

However, there is still a glimmer of hope for fans of the series. Last week, Zampella suggested that the third installment of the Titanfall series is still a possibility as long as it is made at "the right moment in time" and has "the right idea". While the status of the franchise remains uncertain, Zampella's comments mean that its future has not necessarily been abandoned in favor of other projects such as Apex Legends and the Star Wars Jedi series.
