The fully-fledged DLC Throes of the Watchmaker is on the horizon, aiming to bring the narrative that overarches all of Sabotage's games.

Just a few days ago, we discussed how successful the new Sea of Stars game was, selling over 100,000 copies on the day of launch. Prior to its release, this turn-based RPG inspired by the 90s classics was also promised a DLC, which would presumably connect the game to its predecessor, The Messenger, a game that shares the universe with Sea of Stars.
Thierry Boulanger, a Sea of Stars Game Director, has shared some information regarding the expansion and the recent work of their team. According to Boulanger, the DLC is actively being developed, with one team working on a new project, and another team, a smaller one, focusing on exploring other DLC options for Sea of Stars. This is a similar process to what happened after the success of The Messenger in 2018. The immensely popular Metroidvania led Sabotage to release the Picnic Panic DLC in 2019, while most of their development resources shifted towards the creation of Sea of Stars.
The upcoming DLC is called Throes of the Watchmaker. Sabotage hasn't given much information but ensures that it's going to be a "fully-fledged side-adventure DLC" that will "expand even more on the world of Sea of Stars and provide additional insight on the narrative overarching all of our games". As the DLC was announced, speculations arose that Throes of the Watchmaker would further expand and connect Sea of Stars and The Messenger in some way.

The release date is unknown but it's worth saying that Throes of the Watchmaker will be free of charge to those who pledged enough on Kickstarter to receive a copy of Sea of Stars upon its release. If you want to learn more, you can read the original interview on Radio Canada.
