Riot
Here is your reminder that Riot Games basically allows people to hack its systems and even gives them money for successful attempts.
Riot announced a bounty hunt for bugs and issues and invites players who can successfully identify security issues to Riot's "private bug bounty program on HackerOne" (thanks, PC Gamer.)
If you find a bug in any Riot services, you can send it to Riot, and it will sign you up for the program. Then, you can get up to $100,000 for every problem depending on its severity, you just have to be quiet about it.
"If you’re able to help us protect our players and their data by responsibly identifying new security issues for us to fix, you are awesome and we want to reward you. Qualifying bugs will be rewarded based on severity. Our minimum reward is $250 USD. Rewards are granted entirely at the discretion of Riot. Publicly disclosing your bug without coordinating with us may lead to being ineligible for a bounty. We will judge this on a case by case basis."
The categories of issues include:
- Non-traffic volume-based Denial of Service (crashing a game server through an application vulnerability, preventing a target client from joining games.)
- DDoS that can identify and target individual players (an exploit leading to connecting a player’s IP address to their Riot ID without being in-game or in-game friends with them.)
- Targeted In Game Session Disconnection (an exploit leading to disconnecting an arbitrary target player from a game session.)
Moreover, there are separate categories for VALORANT's Vanguard anti-cheat and Hypixel Studios, the developer of Hytale, a community-powered block game.
So if you're skillful enough, this is a great opportunity to earn some (a lot of) money.
