Rivian Automotive Plans to Utilize AI to Enhance Its Electric Vehicle Experience

Wassym Bensaid has spoken about how the company intends to leverage AI to improve its cars.

During Databricks' recent Data and AI Summit 2023, Wassym Bensaid, Vice President of Software Development at Rivian Automotive, shared the company's vision for the future and how they utilize AI to enhance the electric vehicle experience.

First reported by Benzinga, Rivian leverages AI to improve their battery system, resulting in enhanced range and performance for their electric vehicles. By incorporating prognostic sensors, Rivian can detect and predict issues, moving away from the traditional approach of waiting for physical signs of problems.

Additionally, Rivian utilizes the Databricks Lakehouse platform to integrate data, analytics, and AI. This adoption allows Rivian to accelerate innovation, reduce costs, and ultimately provide an improved driving experience for its customers.

"Imagine a world where your vehicle will self-monitor its health, an AI agent in your vehicle will detect when a future problem might happen. Your vehicle will automatically schedule its own service and we send you one of our mobile vans, and we give you back your most precious resource – time," commented Bensaid.

Earlier, Rivian also revealed production numbers that surpassed expectations, stating that it manufactured 13,992 trucks and vans during the second quarter. This figure exceeded previous estimates of approximately 11,000 units. As a result, the company's shares experienced a notable increase, closing 17.4% higher in New York on Monday. In contrast, Tesla's stock rose by 6.9%, while BYD saw a 4.5% increase in Hong Kong.
