Fergusson joined Epic in 2005, and then moved to Microsoft when the company acquired the Gears franchise in 2014 to lead the new studio. The latest Gears game was released in 2019
Blizzard wants Diablo IV to become a huge hit and they need strong leadership to achieve that. In recent years, former president Michael Morhaime and Hearthstone lead Ben Brode left the company, plus Warcraft III: Reforged turned out to be a disaster, so they need to lunch a great game to turn things around.
The developer is known as a specialist who can help troubled and ambitious projects, so we hope the next Diablo game turns out to be a success.
