RPG Maker U2U Introduces HD-2D-Inspired Visual System
It will launch with over 100 maps compatible with this new system.
Gotcha Gotcha Games has unveiled a new entry in the RPG Maker series titled RPG Maker U2U. Its standout feature is a new visual system called P2D (Perspective 2D), which evokes the HD-2D style seen in games like Octopath Traveler.
RPG Maker U2U will launch with over 100 maps compatible with this new system. The P2D Map Editor retains the classic RPG Maker feel, focusing on intuitive controls that require no coding knowledge. Users can quickly assemble maps using pre-made assets or build environments manually with block-based construction tools.
The release date has not yet been announced, but it has been confirmed that the project is being developed using the Unity engine, similar to RPG Maker Unite. The software also supports 2D assets from previous RPG Maker entries.
RPG Maker U2U was showcased at BitSummit PUNCH in Kyoto this weekend, and some additional details are available in this Denfaminicogamer article. The article is in Japanese, but machine translation works quite well.
