See how the latest version improves physics behavior and integration with Maya.
Mercenaries Engineering released the first significant update to its 3D animation software in years, focused on improving production efficiency and expanding creative potential for users. Rumba 2.0 introduces numerous new features, with the highlights being a new Dynamics system that adds dynamic articulation to controllers for more natural motion, and a new Sequencer for working with multiple shots in a non-linear workflow.
The update improves animation functionality with options to reverse keys and switch the rotation order. You can now hide manipulators in the viewport, and the Outliner has been redesigned for easier management of complex scenes.
Version 2.0 of Rumba integrates smoothly into existing pipelines, offering support for importing Alembic and USD assets, importing and exporting FBX cameras, and exporting animations to USD and Alembic formats. Also, edited animation keyframe curves can be sent back to Maya rigs.
If you're attending SIGGRAPH 2025 in Vancouver next month, the Mercenaries team will be showcasing Rumba 2.0 there.
