Rumor: Valve Works on a New Game About Gordon Freeman

YouTube blogger Tyler McVicker stated that Valve's HLX would be the third major game that you play as Gordon Freeman, even if it wouldn't be called Half-Life 3.

In his recent stream, YouTuber Tyler McVicker touched upon the creation of Valve's new game, known as HLX, and stated it was the new part of Half-Life.

In the new stream, McVicker overviewed his old video in which he stated that Valve wasn't working on Half-Life 3, and now he claims that it turned out he was wrong then. Tyler confidently said that HLX was "the third major game that you play as Gordon Freeman," which had been in development since at least 2021. "The only stipulation to that answer is will they call it Half-Life 3," the YouTuber added. He said that Valve probably would call the game a new part of Half-Life if it had a technological leap. According to Tyler, a big leap is a procedural generation, replayability, and creating a mechanical state that adds replayability to the game without feeling procedurally generated.

McVicker also stated that, contrary to the rumors, the new Half-Life 3 would not be an open-world game. He explained that the project would feature open-ended levels with procedurally generated side areas to explore, but it would still have a linear storyline.

Before, Tyler McVicker called HLX a "fully-fledged non-VR Half-Life game," with the production nearing completion. Later, the streamer said that HLX was not ready to be presented yet.

Who cares. They are probably going to make it another stupid VR game that 2% of all gamers even bother with.
