From official trailers and 3D fan art to peculiar Chinese commercials and hints at Game of Thrones-like events.
Netflix
The long-awaited second season of Riot Games and Fortiche Productions' acclaimed Arcane series is set to hit the screens in less than two weeks, and even though we still don't know much about the sequel, with occasional teaser trailers offering little in terms of plot details, it's already a certainty that the show's release is slated to become one of the most spectacular events in both the video game and 3D art industries.
With that in mind, it's no surprise that many fans of the series, along with its creators, have already begun celebrating the impending premiere, hyping up Arcane Season 2 in any way they can. The series' Co-Creator and Showrunner Christian Linke, for instance, recently appeared on the Black Girl Nerds podcast to hint that it is "indeed possible" for some characters to meet a Game of Thrones-style fate, implying they could die unexpectedly to shock and baffle the audience.
While some characters appear to have plot armor and are likely immune to sudden demise, simply due to the fact that Arcane is a prequel to Riot's League of Legends and certain characters from the show are present there as playable champions, the tease remains effective, considering just how many of Arcane's fans have never played LoL.
Netflix commemorated the premiere by releasing an official music video for Sheryl Lee Ralph's "Blood, Sweat & Tears" song, boasting impeccable animations and one-of-a-kind 3D visuals we have all come to expect from Fortiche:
The Chinese, on the other hand, opted for real actors instead of 3D models to mark the occasion, unveiling a quirky and incredibly entertaining commercial that promotes both Arcane and Arcane-related merch, which seems to be available only during promotional events and at the stores of the advert's creator in China.
Last but not least, 3D Character Artist Joshua Gouw celebrated Arcane Season 2 by showcasing an incredibly realistic fan-made 3D portrait of Vi, created using ZBrush, Maya, Substance 3D Painter, Arnold, XGen, and Texturing XYZ's materials:
Some of you may already know Joshua for his fantastic 3D take on Jinx, which he previously broke down in his 80 Level interview, explaining how her face and outfit were sculpted and discussing the texturing and lighting processes.
Arcane Season 2 is launching on November 9, 2024. Much like the first season, the sequel will be released in three acts, with Act 1 arriving on November 9, Act 2 dropping on November 16, and Act 3 hitting the screens on November 23, concluding both the season and the entire saga.
