Portraits following you with their eyes is a creepy scene from horror games, but you can make your own with 3D Gaussian splats. As audiovisual artist Gnomalab demonstrated, the same effect can be achieved by training splats on photos of a person looking into the camera.
Whichever way you turn the 3D model, he always looks right at you – an eerie but cool experiment produced on PlayCanvas, an open-source web graphics platform. You can have fun with the project yourself.
