Indie Game Developer Alex Rassloff has launched Barbotine, a short, experimental horror game with surreal visuals and old-school PSX-style graphics, inspired by Silent Hill.
Delving into themes of anxiety, isolation, and obsessive habits, Barbotine places players in the shoes of an unfortunate character who, following an accident at a party, falls ill, undergoing a disturbing transformation into a grotesque creature over the span of seven harrowing days.
Each day, your house will get progressively more uncanny and distorted, presenting unnerving visuals and confronting you with enemies along your path. Unlike other similar games, Barbotine doesn't force you to play as a defenseless noodle, allowing you to kick your foes and smack them with a shovel. Said shovel will also be needed to satisfy your uncontrollable urge to dig a hole located in your basement.
With Barbotine being an experimental title with 20-30 minutes of gameplay and little to no replay value, the developer made the game free to play via Itch.io. However, if you'd like to support the creator and his future projects, you can purchase the game on Steam, getting access to achievements as a bonus.
