Silica: An Upcoming Game From DayZ & Arma 3 Creator

The game blends together FPS and RTS, allowing you to experience the action first-hand or lead your forces from the orbit.

Arma 3 and DayZ creator Bohemia Interactive has announced Silica, a new upcoming game that blends together first-person shooter and real-time strategy, enabling the player to either experience the action as a ground-based soldier or as a commander, leading the troops from the orbit.

Taking place on the alien planet of Baltarus, filled to the brim with valuable resources, the game features three opposing groups, two human armies and the local aliens, fighting over the control of the planet. In Silica, you will be able to join any of the three factions you want, allowing you to either mow down hordes of aliens or playing as an insect-like alien yourself, shifting your consciousness between creatures and battling the humans.

Silica's most notable feature, however, is that it combines both FPS and RTS, allowing you to play both as a ground-based soldier, shooting the aliens and driving vehicles, or as a commander, leading the troops from the orbit and building various structures to produce and dispatch units.

Silica's key features:

  • First/third-person shooter - control any character, creature, or vehicle. You can leave the commanding to the AI.
  • Choose from 6 unique locations to play on.
  • Immerse yourself in 3 engaging game modes.
  • Singleplayer and multiplayer options - play alone or with up to 12 people in Strategy mode and 32 in Arena mode.
  • As a human, produce and select from 5 infantry classes and 11 distinct vehicles.
  • As an alien, spawn and shift between 8 different creatures.
