Alexandre Sirois-Vigneux presented one more demo for his custom-made MPM solver, highlighting the solid/liquid interaction.
MSc Researcher and VFX Artist Alexandre Sirois-Vigneux, who earlier this month presented a neat exploding watermelon simulation achieved with a custom ML/GPU-accelerated MPM solver written in CUDA, has shared one more demo showcasing the solver's capabilities.
This time, the creator impressed us by setting up a realistic-looking breaking iceberg simulation, which highlights the solid/liquid interactions that can be set up with the solver. According to the developer, the simulated ice automatically fractures upon touching the water and then floats back up thanks to "properly modeled" density. The whitewater, Alexandre noted, was set up with Houdini.
