Concept Artist Yaroslav Hahalev showed his texturing experiments in sketches done in Blender. He used Cycles for his soldier models, but Eevee would be fine as well, he says.
Blender is not usually artists' first choice for sketching, but Hahalev finds it easiest to keep his workflow in one place. He shared a glimpse of his explorations on X/Twitter:
"It's a combination of vertex color, procedural and regular textures. Some of the textures I build from different photos, and some I enhance with vertex color. I don’t rely on just one method or the other."
